1750 Cape House

Harwich, Cape Cod Massachusetts

Carriage House Studio Private Entrance .

Welcome to our 1750 Cape House

Located in the village of Harwich, minutes from Nantucket Sound is a lovely circa 1750s carriage house that has been thoughtfully renovated to meld the past with our present on beautiful Cape Cod.

The Carriage House: the First Floor

The Carriage House is a very private 1,008 sf space, located on the same property as the owner’s home.  Newly renovated with a separate entrance, new windows, freshly painted, newly refinished wide slat honey pine wood floors (from the original 1750 house), 2 bedrooms (1 upstairs & 1 downstairs)-each with a queen size bed, living room with a brand new queen size sofa bed, brand new full bathroom with tub, kitchenette with coffee maker, full size fridge, microwave, toaster oven and hot plate, laundry room, private deck and patio with gas grill. Beautiful, quiet neighborhood, five minute walk to the ocean. Several different beaches within a few minutes drive, restaurants, yoga studio, bike path, grocery store and laundromat, all within a 3 to 5 minute drive from the house. 8 min drive to the highway. There is NO Smoking allowed in the Carriage House and as much as we love animals we unfortunately are unable to accomodate pets.

The "Loft" on the second floor in the carriage house has a sitting area with a TV, microwave, mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker and toaster, a bedroom with a queen sized bed and a full bath. There is also a separate entrance if you wish to use it that goes directly upstairs to the Loft, as well as a small patio space with an additional grill (for example this would be ideal for 2 couples).

About the Carriage House

1750 Cape House.jpg
1750 House before renovation

The “Carriage House” that you see now is what is left of our circa 1750 original bow frame, rambling Half Cape style home that was purchased in 1993. As our children grew we needed more space (most antique homes of that time period had very little in the way of closet space, storage, etc), but desperately loved our location and

our 1750 home.

We decided to keep as much as we could of the antique home and in 2008 we built a colonial on the same property with the intent of connecting the two structures in the future to accommodate our visiting family members and our growing children.  Fast forward to February of 2019 when the connection and renovation of the original half cape began and was finished by January 2020.

1750 Cape House located in the

Village of Harwich

Harwich, first settled in 1665, is a town rich in history.  Known as the Birthplace of the commercial cranberry cultivation and home to the Harwich Cranberry Festival, the town is located on the Nantucket Sound side of the Cape and is bordered by the towns of Dennis, Brewster and Chatham.  Boasting approximately 11 miles of shoreline, three working Harbors and the quintessential seaside village and Main Street of Harwich Port.  Harwich Port, only minutes from our 1750 Cape House, has a Main Street lined with restaurants, bakeries, local shops and more.  During the summer months every other Wednesday night "The Port"  is bustling with people congregating to enjoy "Music in the Port".
